Since 2005, Amie Decker has specialized in Bridal makeup in the Maryland and DC area. Her work has been featured in numerous national and local wedding blogs and magazines. She is a beauty contributor for Baltimore Magazine, The DC Ladies and she has been chosen by COVERGIRL to be an expert professional makeup artist for special events.

How do you describe your “style”?
HaHa, is pretty a “style”? We think it is very important to bring out a woman’s individual style and uniqueness through hair and makeup. We like to say “no cookie cutter brides.” Every look we create is really catered to the bride and her needs—not what someone else has deemed “bridal.”

What keeps you passionate about weddings?
I have thought about this question long and hard because so many people I know want nothing to do with weddings. I started my business over 8 years ago and have worked with over 600 brides and I still love weddings. I love beauty and I love LOVE but I think what keeps me passionate about weddings are my daughters. I cannot help but envision every wedding as if it was their wedding and it makes me want the absolute best for my brides. I see the desire women have from a very young age to be beautiful and adored and I find that little girl in my clients. Just the idea that I am preparing a bride for the precious union with her lifelong partner makes me emotional. I don’t think it will ever get old.

Are you seeing any trends emerging in wedding makeup styles?

There are a few trends emerging that I am really happy about, lashes and bolder lips. A few years ago, I would have to talk brides into false lashes or something besides nude on her lips. Recent brides have been coming to me and, before I even mention anything, they say “I want lashes and a pop of color on the lips!” I Love it!

What is one piece of advice that you like to give couples?
Let this experience be fun! Hire vendors you can trust and will enjoy spending the day with. Gather advice from others but go with your gut and do what’s right for you. And keep in mind that what really matters is that at the end of the day you will be married to the love of your life.

Outside of weddings, what brings you joy?
Relationships. I am a quality time girl. I love spending time with my family and my girlfriends. I don’t mind being wined and dined either!
