For a long time, I had secretly been hoping to photograph a courthouse wedding. When Jimmy contacted me about photographing his wedding at the DC Courthouse, I was ecstatic! I wanted to see what it was like photographing a wedding in a place that isn’t a beautiful hotel, museum, vineyard, or any of the other standard DC wedding venues. And since I like to call my style “Joyful Wedding Photography,” I was excited to see a wedding that was stripped of all the usual wedding hoopla. What remained was a sweet couple, four of their closest loved ones and, unsurprisingly, as much joy as any other wedding. To cap off the afternoon, we did some post-ceremony portraits at two great spots in DC for photos – the National Gallery of Art and the Dupont Circle Metro station.
I could get used to being a courthouse wedding photographer!
